Thank you for your participation. We all go through difficult times; sometimes, sharing your concerns with a trusted person can help you feel less alone. Working in tandem with 7 Cups, participants complete Active Listening training to gain advanced skills in compassionate communication, before connecting with members across the globe to provide support anonymously in one-on-one chats. Listeners meet people with diverse experiences from all walks of life. Listeners provide space for others to clear their heads. To understand. To Support.

Step 1: Setup

Access 7Cups and click Become a Listener. Use your work address to sign up so we can track your impact! If you cannot use a work address for firewall reasons, please use a personal address. Enter your information. You will need to verify your email through your inbox. Enter the verification code, then fill out Basic Information.

Step 2: Selection

You will be prompted to select what you would like to discuss and support. Please ensure you choose subjects you are comfortable providing support in and areas you would like to avoid – we want to be sure you’re looking after yourself too!

Step 3: Listener training

Time to commence the listener training! The course comprises twenty three questions. You get two attempts to answer each question correctly and receive points for each correct answer. You get two points for choosing correctly the first attempt and one point if you get it right on the second. If you don’t pass, you can reset and try again.

Upon passing all twenty three questions, you proceed to the “Practice Chat.” Think of yourself as a listener now.

Step 4: Time to get to work

You are now a listener! You can proceed to the dashboard. Once you become a new listener, you can:

  • Access new chats via the red bar at the bottom of the screen or the “chat” drop-down menu at the top.
  • You can continue your learning through the “paths” drop-down menu and clicking the “training” tab.
  • You can talk to trained experts in the “advice” area or speak to your local listener support boards through the “chat” drop-down.
