Thank you. Your gift of time today will impact the lives of those isolated as a result of COVID-19. A study conducted by researchers from UCSF found that adults 60 years and older who reported feeling lonely were at higher risk for functional decline in addition to the increased risk of death.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s more important than ever to fight loneliness with love for our elders. Nursing homes are no longer accepting visitors and many aren’t allowed to socialize with the other residents.
Today, you will be raising awareness around the importance of supporting vulnerable seniors while actually doing it!

How To Keep Supporting
Step 1: Join your team's live event or watch the recording
The live event or the recording of the event contains the guidance you need to complete your letters with your team or on your own.

Step 2: The letter writing
You have four letters to write! Need help getting started? here is a page of highlighted elders you can support. This page shares details about the elder, which is a helpful starting point for getting to know your recipient before writing to them.Letters must be legible (large print) and handwritten. No worries if you’re not artistic– make your card what you’d like to receive.Still feeling some writer's block? Here are some recommendations:
- Stories – We find that seniors love learning about writers, especially those with a special story. Add as many details as possible and give your audience something enjoyable to read.
- Struggles – Share challenges you may be going through. Not only do readers love authentic stories, but you also may find it a personal cathartic experience.
- Jokes – Give your reader a really good laugh! The more jokes you can pack into your card, the greater your chances of brightening their day!

Seal your letters in the envelope and affix a stamp.

We have partnered with Cool Effect on The Mare Chicose landfill project in Mauritius to reduce methane emissions, generate electricity, create jobs, and promote sustainable development. Investing in the project helps reduce our carbon footprint and support global climate change mitigation.
