Build a habitat for bees, and learn about regenerative agriculture.

Thank you so much for participating in Honey Harvest. Farmers that keep bees can harvest honey during the non-growing season to earn extra income, producing 60 pounds or more each year. Honeybees are essential to healthy crops, and their rapid decline threatens global food security.
Our Goal: What’s all the buzz about? Raise awareness of the importance of bees and regenerative agriculture while actually doing it! This effort aims to care for thousands of pollinating plants, donate hundreds of hives to developing communities, and support millions of bees.

We work to keep things as simple as possible. If you have any questions, please get in touch with your event coordinator or reach out to “Kai” (WeHero Super Dog) in the lower-right corner of this page.

Place the house in direct sunlight facing southeast or south, at least 3 ft but no more than 6.5 ft (1-2 meters) off the ground. The habitat should receives at least 6 hours of sunlight. The entrance must be free of obstructions (no plants in the way!). Mud and wild native flowers will aid your bee hotel. It can sometimes take a few years to see bee residents, as native bees like to return to the same location, so keep on the lookout!

Your house is ready for the bees to move in! Beware of birds attacking the tubes for a snack. If this happens, fix a piece of chicken wire across the front. When fall arrives, clean the habitat thoroughly and store it in a dry area (such as a garage or shed) for protection until spring, when the females look for a place to live and breed.

We build our volunteer events to be as environmentally friendly as possible. Whether it is offsetting the carbon emissions of the shipping process, using recycled cardboard for the boxes, or relying on algae based dyes, we’ve made conscious steps to ensure we’re doing right for our world.

We have partnered with Cool Effect on The Mare Chicose landfill project in Mauritius to reduce methane emissions, generate electricity, create jobs, and promote sustainable development. Investing in the project helps reduce our carbon footprint and support global climate change mitigation.
