Your gift of time today will impact children, families, and communities who have lost everything due to natural disasters, conflict, or disease, individuals who need medical and hygiene supplies, and your encouragement, thoughts, and a virtual hug.
The Experience: Today, you’ll be putting together Disaster Relief packs. The supplies you’re providing are difficult to procure in the areas these packs are going to, especially during times of natural disaster. Each pack will have the necessary supplies to help a family or an individual. People are always so excited and moved that someone across the globe has thought about them and given them a pack of much-needed supplies.

Step 1: Get organized
Unpack your box and organize the items by type. Make the bags fun with the sharpies we’ve included for you. Pictures, quotes, and your signature are all welcome on the bag. They make each pack different and unique. We can’t wait to see what you create!

Note: If you have any extra or alternative items, please keep them for yourself or discard them. Putting extras in the packs creates more work for the response staff.

Step 3: Letter writing
One of the most important touches to the packs. The children who will receive these packs may not have the support needed to stay in school; without that, it’s easy to give up. Inspire them. Use the WeHero letter to write them a short letter. Encourage them to study and keep working to achieve their dreams. It’s very impactful to know that someone is thinking of you.

Step 4: Re-box and apply the shipping label
Using the original box everything came in, add the completed packs, and reseal the box. Attach the prepaid shipping label and schedule your USPS pickup. You can also drop your box off at your local post office. To schedule your pickup, simply use the following link and follow the steps: www.wehero.co/pick-up/
Note: If the system asks for weight, you can enter 6 pounds and the shipping provider will update the weight automatically.
Step 5: Photo time
Take a photo of yourself with your completed packs and share the experience with your friends and family. This is an opportunity to spread awareness and share the act of kindness. Be sure to tag WeHero when you post on social media!
